MAKKAH — Worshipers flocked to the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah to perform Taraweeh and the congregational Tahajjud (Qiyamullail) prayers on Monday, the first night of the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan. The faithful observe congregational Tahajjud prayers during the final 10 days of Ramadan. In Makkah, there was a huge of flow of worshipers from the early hours in the corridors, courtyards, the Mataf, and the roads leading to the Grand Mosque. There were spiritual scenes of the pilgrims and visitors—some praying, others reciting the Holy Qur’an and supplicating to Allah—while experiencing tranquility and devotion amid an integrated system of services provided by the authorities to ensure the comfort and safety of worshipers. The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque prepared the sites, facilities, and courtyards of the Grand Mosque in coordination with relevant authorities to provide advanced operational services for worshipers and Umrah pilgrims. These included cleaning, sterilization, and perfuming operations using specialized equipment and tools distributed inside and outside the mosque. Additional measures included operating restrooms fully equipped with services, providing increased numbers of prayer carpets, and preparing multiple stations for the distribution of Zamzam water to ensure the availability of both chilled and unchilled water around the clock. Entry and exit systems were also organized to facilitate the movement of worshippers, with designated entrances for the elderly and persons with disabilities, along with intensified field teams working around the clock to receive inquiries and feedback. Escalators and elevators were also prepared, along with air-conditioning, lighting, ventilation, sound systems, and power supply sources. Doors and restrooms were equipped, and environmental safety standards were implemented to ensure the health and safety of visitors. These efforts are part of the continuous work undertaken by the concerned authorities to serve pilgrims and provide the highest levels of organization and care, enabling worshipers and visitors to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility. In Madinah, worshipers performed Tahajjud prayers in an atmosphere marked by spirituality, tranquility, and safety, as thousands gathered in the mosque’s corridors, courtyards, and the roads leading to it.
