Hajj Minister reviews progress of development projects during inspection tour of holy sites

Makkah — Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah inspected several development projects currently under implementation at the holy sites during a field tour on Tuesday. The tour was aimed to review the progress of works and assess the readiness of the operational system ahead of the 2026 Hajj season. The tour covered several key projects implemented by Kidana Development Company, the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites. The minister reviewed progress on the Emergency Hospital Project – Phase Two, with a capacity of up to 400 beds, aimed at strengthening healthcare capabilities in the holy sites and enhancing medical readiness and response during the Hajj season. He also reviewed the humanization of the holy sites project, which seeks to improve the urban landscape and enhance the quality of the spatial environment to support pilgrims’ comfort and align with development objectives for the holy sites. The project focuses on creating a more spacious and flexible urban environment and providing comfortable public spaces that address pilgrims’ needs. It also targets the removal of visual distortions and the adoption of advanced smart solutions to establish an integrated and sustainable human-centered environment that improves service quality at the holy sites. The tour also included the pilgrims’ rest areas project, which aims to provide service facilities and equipped rest areas along pedestrian routes to ease pilgrims’ movement. The second phase includes the creation of designated seating and rest areas, modern shade structures, cooling fans, and commercial units, alongside comprehensive improvements to pathways and supporting services across an area of 36,000 square meters. This follows the first phase implemented during the 2025 Hajj season, covering 30,000 square meters. The minister reviewed the heat stress mitigation project in the area surrounding Jabal Al-Rahmah in Arafat, which aims to enhance the quality of services provided to visitors and pilgrims while reducing the impact of high temperatures.He also inspected the heat stress mitigation project in the plaza adjacent to Namirah Mosque, which includes engineering and environmental solutions designed to create a more comfortable environment for pilgrims.
