RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has outlined the regulations for obtaining clearance permits on pilgrims’ medications containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances. The SFDA indicated that to obtain a clearance permit on the medicine, several requirements must be met, including: a copy of the applicant’s passport, a valid medical prescription or report issued within the past six months, and a photo of the medication and its outer packaging. Applicants must also agree to the electronic declaration included in the application before submission. The SFDA further emphasized that the permitted amount must not exceed a 30-day supply or the duration of the pilgrim’s stay in the Kingdom, whichever is shorter, based on the dosage specified in the medical prescription or report. These measures, which ensure a safe and seamless experience for pilgrims, are part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to serve the Guests of Allah, facilitate the performance of their rituals, and ensure the safety and well-being of all visitors to the Holy Sites. The Authority noted that applications for clearance permits can be submitted by creating a “Personal Traveler Account” through the Electronic Controlled Drugs System (CDS).RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has outlined the regulations for obtaining clearance permits on pilgrims’ medications containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances.
