Bank guarantees and metal transit plates are not required for transit carriers

RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced allowing the practice of transit transport activity without requiring the submission of a bank guarantee during the current phase. By this, the authority aims to enhance the flexibility of procedures within the customs clearance system and raise the efficiency of supply chains across land, sea, and air ports in the Kingdom. This measure supports the smooth flow of trade during the current phase and enables the efficient movement of goods and cargo, contributing to enhancing the flexibility of logistics operations and ensuring the continuity of customs services under various conditions. ZATCA also allowed carriers to transport goods under the domestic transit system between air and sea ports in the Kingdom without requiring the issuance of metal transit plates, as part of facilitating operational procedures and enhancing the efficiency of transit transport processes between air and sea ports, in a way that supports the smooth movement of transport and logistics services. The authority emphasized its commitment to developing enablers of the logistics sector and facilitating procedures for beneficiaries to boost the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub, aligning with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.
