Iran denies US talks, calls reports ‘fake news’

TEHRAN — Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said Monday that no negotiations have taken place with the United States, dismissing reports of talks as “fake news” aimed at influencing financial and oil markets.“No negotiations have been held with the United States. These fake news reports are meant to manipulate financial and oil markets and to escape the quagmire the US and Israel are stuck in,” Qalibaf said in a post on X.He added that the Iranian public is demanding a “complete and regret-inducing punishment of aggressors,” stressing that officials remain aligned with the country’s leadership and public sentiment. His remarks came hours after US President Donald Trump said he had ordered a five-day pause in strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure, citing what he described as “very good and productive” talks with Tehran, claims Iranian officials have rejected.TEHRAN — Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said Monday that no negotiations have taken place with the United States, dismissing reports of talks as “fake news” aimed at influencing financial and oil markets.“No negotiations have been held with the United States.
