MAKKAH — The Public Health Authority (Weqaya) has issued preventive health guidance for Umrah performers and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque to reduce the risk of respiratory infections during their rituals. The advisory comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Kingdom’s health system to promote preventive health awareness among pilgrims, enabling worshippers to perform their rituals in safety and comfort. The authority recommended wearing masks during tawaf and sa’i, as well as in crowded areas, noting that avoiding peak times and heavy congestion as much as possible further enhances protection. It explained that adherence to these guidelines helps reduce the likelihood of infection, mitigate the severity and complications of respiratory illnesses if they occur, limit transmission among pilgrims and visitors, and protect their families upon returning home.Among the key health recommendations is receiving the required vaccinations for Umrah, particularly for high-risk groups such as individuals with chronic diseases and the elderly. Appointments for vaccinations can be booked through the Sehhaty application. The authority stressed that these measures reflect the health system’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that pilgrims perform their rituals with reassurance and well-being.MAKKAH — The Public Health Authority (Weqaya) has issued preventive health guidance for Umrah performers and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque to reduce the risk of respiratory infections during their rituals.
