RIYADH — Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti affirmed the stability of supply chains in the poultry sector, contributing to abundant production and meeting the growing local demand and consumer needs for poultry meat and its products in the local market. “The poultry sector in the Kingdom has achieved significant leaps and record production figures that expected to exceed 1.5 million tons, achieving self-sufficiency of over 76 percent. This contributes to enhancing food security and supporting the national economy, in accordance with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030,” he said while chairing a meeting at the ministry headquarters on Wednesday. The meeting, which reviewed the stock status and expected production of the poultry sector during the upcoming period, including the Hajj season, was attended by representatives of the General Authority for Food Security, the National Committee for Poultry Producers, and the National Committee for Feed Manufacturers at the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce. Al-Mushaiti said that the meeting’s outcomes and discussions provided reassurance regarding the production of poultry meat and its products, ensuring sufficient supply to meet increasing demand and guaranteeing quality and price stability for consumers, especially during the Hajj season. “During this period, consumption of poultry meat and its products doubles, necessitating increased efforts from the ministry and relevant authorities to boost production and ensure the availability of poultry products for consumers,” he said. Al-Mushaiti said the ministry’s plans and establishment of several model poultry projects in various regions have contributed to an abundance of fresh poultry products, including meat and eggs, and to price stability in retail and central markets. “The initiatives and programs launched to support local feed producers have led to increased domestic investment in the poultry feed sector, contributing to its availability and enhancing overall poultry production,” he said. The meeting reviewed broiler chicken production and stock levels for the first quarter of 2026, including the output of the 10 companies representing 85 percent of domestic production. Monthly broiler chicken production in March reached 125,470 tons, while monthly stock for the same month was approximately 16,278 tons. It was clarified in the meeting that the production of large chickens – those weighing over 1500 grams – is close to 77,000 tons. Four companies began actual production of these large chickens at the beginning of this month, which will contribute to their availability at all sales outlets and retail markets. Daily table egg production was estimated at more than 24 million eggs, including more than 10 million eggs from the top 10 producers. Stock levels exceeded 26.6 million eggs during March, equivalent to approximately 74,000 cartons.RIYADH — Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng.
