TGA detects 93,259 violations and impounds 2,762 vehicles in February

RIYADH — Officials from the Transport General Authority (TGA) have conducted over 464,126 inspections of land, sea, and rail transport activities during the last month of February. These inspections have resulted in the detection of 93,259 violations and impounding of 2,762 vehicles. The inspection campaign is part of TGA’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of services and enhance safety standards. The inspections in land transport activities totaled 456,363, with a compliance rate of 92 percent. The maritime transport sector carried out 7,720 inspections with a compliance rate of 99 percent, while the rail transport sector recorded 43 inspections with a 100 percent compliance rate. This reflects the integrated efforts of the inspection teams in monitoring transport activities in the Kingdom. The authority stated that 93,230 violations were recorded in land transport activities, while the maritime transport sector recorded 29 violations. It confirmed that legal penalties were applied to violators, including the impounding of 2,762 vehicles that did not meet the regulations and technical requirements for land transport. The TGA stated that major violations included failure to meet safety requirements for vehicles and transported goods, as well as individuals preparing to transport passengers using their private vehicles in an unauthorized manner without a license. Other violations included operating a transport business without a valid driver’s license and operating vehicles with expired operating permits. It is worthy to note that Makkah topped the list of regions with the highest number of recorded violations, reaching 36,348, followed by Riyadh with 20,164, Madinah 9,027, the Eastern Province 8,506, and Tabuk 5,026.
