Agriculture minister launches farmer training drive to improve agricultural practices

RIYADH — Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) Abdulrahman Alfadley launched an initiative for farmer training packages on the first day of Saudi Agriculture 2026 Exhibition. The initiative, launched in partnership with Estidamah and Saudi Reef Academy, aims to turn research findings and scientific expertise into practical training programs that improve agricultural practices, enhance water and resource efficiency, and promote the adoption of modern farming technologies. The initiative is part of Estidamah’s efforts to bring agricultural knowledge into the field. Under the partnership, the center will use research findings and scientific expertise to develop practical training content, which the Saudi Reef Academy will turn into training packages and deliver through programs in targeted regions. The initiative is expected to help improve farming practices, increase production efficiency, and promote the sustainable use of natural resources. As part of efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships and expand research and technical cooperation, Estidamah signed cooperation agreements with SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company, the NSG Geospatial Services, and Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden). It also signed a memorandum of understanding with Qassim University. Areas of cooperation cover applied agricultural research and field trials, the development of agricultural technologies and products, and the use of geospatial data and remote sensing technologies to support research and monitor research sites. They also encompass boosting agricultural training and extension services, as well as the exchange of expertise and knowledge. Estidamah’s participation in Saudi Agriculture 2026 builds on its efforts to bridge scientific research and practical application and expand partnerships with academic and research institutions and the private sector. These efforts support the adoption of modern agricultural technologies, improve the efficiency of natural resource use, and contribute to Saudi Arabia’s sustainable agricultural development goals.RIYADH — Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) Abdulrahman Alfadley launched an initiative for farmer training packages on the first day of Saudi Agriculture 2026 Exhibition.
