National Greening Season to kick off on October 7

RIYADH — The National Greening Program announced on Thursday that it will launch the 2026 National Greening Season on October 7.Aligned with the Saudi Green Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030, the nationwide campaign aims to expand vegetation cover, combat desertification, promote the planting of native species suited to the local climate, and foster environmental volunteerism across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Building on milestones from the past two years—which saw over 51,000 hectares rehabilitated through rainwater harvesting and the sowing of 109 tons of seeds across 40 indigenous plant species—this year’s plans target the rehabilitation of an additional 60,000 hectares. Operations will disperse more than 110 tons of seeds covering 70 native species, coordinated with cloud-seeding missions to enhance germination rates toward a cumulative target of 350,000 rehabilitated hectares by 2030. Coinciding with the upcoming launch, the program unveiled the official visual identity for the 2026 season, calling on relevant entities to integrate the branding across all media and communication materials to unify national outreach.RIYADH — The National Greening Program announced on Thursday that it will launch the 2026 National Greening Season on October 7.Aligned with the Saudi Green Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030, the nationwide campaign aims to expand vegetation cover, combat desertification, promote the planting of native species suited to the local climate, and foster environmental volunteerism across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
