NCM forecasts heavy rain, flash flood risk across parts of Saudi Arabia through Friday

JEDDAH — Heavy rain is forecast across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah and Madinah, as rainfall of varying intensity is expected to continue over most regions of the Kingdom from Monday through Friday according to the National Center for Meteorology. Rainfall is expected to intensify to heavy levels in some areas on Tuesday and Wednesday, with possible strong downdraft winds, near-zero horizontal visibility, hail, flash floods, high waves along coastal areas, and tornadoes or waterspouts. In Jazan, moderate to heavy rain is forecast over Harub, Al-Rayth, Al-Dayer, Al-Eidabi, Fayfa, Al-Aridah, Al-Harth, Al-Tuwal, Al-Darb, Baysh, Sabya, Damad, Abu Arish, Ahad Al-Masarhah and Samtah. Moderate rain is forecast over Jazan and Farasan. In Asir, moderate to heavy rain is forecast over Abha, Khamis Mushait, Ahad Rafidah, Sarat Abidah, Al-Harajah, Dhahran Al-Janub, Al-Farshah, Al-Namas, Tanomah, Rijal Almaa, Bareq, Mahayil Asir, Al-Majardah and Balqarn. Moderate to heavy rain is also forecast over Al-Baha, Baljurashi, Al-Mandaq, Qilwah, Bani Hassan, Al-Qara, Al-Makhwah, Al-Hajrah and Al-Aqiq in Al-Baha Region. As for Makkah, Taif, Maysan, Adham and Al-Ardiyat are forecast to receive moderate to heavy rain, while Makkah is expected to receive light to moderate rain. Meanwhile in Madinah, light to moderate rain is forecast over Madinah, Al-Ula and Khaybar from Monday through Thursday, while Wadi Al-Fara, Badr and Al-Mahd are expected to receive moderate to heavy rain from Monday through Friday. Light to moderate rain is also forecast over Hail, Mawqaq, Al-Shamli, Al-Hait, Al-Ghazalah, Al-Sulaymi, Samira, Al-Shanan and Baqaa in Hail Region from Monday through Thursday.
