GENEVA — The Saudi General Directorate of Passports has enabled employers to issue final exit visas for domestic workers, who have not yet been issued a residency permit, through the Absher platform during the 90-day probationary period. The directorate has stipulated certain conditions for this. Under these conditions, the worker must not be registered as deceased or absent from work, or stay outside Saudi Arabia. The conditions also include a clean traffic record for the worker and a passport valid for 60 days or more. The regulations of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development stipulate that the employer and the domestic worker must enter into a written contract placing the latter on probation for a period not exceeding 90 days. During this period, the employer has the right to verify the domestic worker’s professional competence and personal conduct. Both parties have the right to unilaterally terminate the domestic worker’s employment contract during the probationary period. A domestic worker may not be placed on probation more than once with the same employer unless both parties agree that the domestic worker will work in a different job than the initial one.GENEVA — The Saudi General Directorate of Passports has enabled employers to issue final exit visas for domestic workers, who have not yet been issued a residency permit, through the Absher platform during the 90-day probationary period.
