RIYADH — The Saudi private sector accounts for 95 percent of all subscribers registered with social insurance, with Riyadh recording the highest share. According to the data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), the number of active subscribers covered by social insurance regulations across both the public and private sectors in Saudi Arabia reached approximately 13.99 million by the end of the second quarter of 2026. Subscribers registered with the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) in the private sector accounted for 95 percent of the total, reaching approximately 13.35 million. Meanwhile, the number of subscribers registered with GOSI in the public sector stood at approximately 639,000. By administrative regions, 52 percent of subscribers covered by social insurance regulations were in the Riyadh region, totaling approximately 7.24 million. The Eastern Province followed with 2.45 million subscribers, while Makkah ranked third with approximately 2.2 million subscribers. Statistics showed that the number of Saudis employed and registered with social insurance during the period reached approximately 3.17 million, representing 23 percent of the total registered workforce. In contrast, the number of foreign workers reached approximately 10.82 million, accounting for 77 percent of the total registered workforce.
