JEDDAH — The National Center for Meteorology issued the ared lert level for heavy rain in Taif on Wednesday, as moderate to heavy thunderstorms capable of causing flash floods are forecast across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah and Madinah. The red alert for Taif is in effect from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with strong winds, near-zero horizontal visibility, hail, flash floods and thunderstorms expected. Moderate to heavy thunderstorms over parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha and Makkah, extending to parts of Madinah, may also be accompanied by hail and active winds stirring up dust and sand. Light to moderate thunderstorms accompanied by active winds are also possible over parts of Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf and the Northern Borders. Fog may also form during the night and early morning over parts of these areas, as well as coastal parts of the Eastern Province. For temperatures, Madinah is forecast to record the highest temperature at 42°C, followed by Makkah, Dammam and Buraidah at 41°C, and Riyadh at 40°C. Hail and Jazan are forecast to reach 37°C, Jeddah and Najran 36°C, and Tabuk, Arar and Sakaka 34°C. Abha is forecast at 28°C and Al-Baha at 27°C. Humidity is forecast to reach 95 percent in Jeddah, 90 percent in Dammam and Abha, 85 percent in Al-Baha and Jazan, 80 percent in Makkah, and 70 percent in Tabuk, Hail, Arar and Sakaka.
