RIYADH — The Council of Ministers has reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, legitimate government and people, vowing to help end the terrorist Houthi militia’s coup and restore the Yemeni state and its institutions.The Cabinet session, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh on Tuesday, stated that the Houthi militia has opted for military escalation instead of pursuing peace, further aggravating Yemen’s humanitarian and economic suffering while continuing to threaten regional security and the safety of maritime navigation in the southern Red Sea and the Bab Al-Mandab Strait. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said that the Cabinet commended the outcomes of the emergency meeting of the Strategic-Political and Defense Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defense, which affirmed solidarity among the three countries and their unified position in confronting the criminal attacks targeting the Kingdom, including attacks on Makkah, Madinah, civilian objects, and civil and economic facilities. The meeting also agreed to activate collective deterrence and immediately advance the practical implementation of mutual defense commitments, strengthening military readiness, integration, and the collective capability to confront such threats. At the outset of the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on the content of his meeting with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, including discussions on the prospects of relations and areas of cooperation between the two countries, in addition to reviewing the latest developments in the region. The Cabinet highly commended the contents of the annual royal address of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at the opening of the activities of the third year of the ninth session of the Shoura Council. The address highlighted the state’s enduring principles and foundations, the key achievements of Saudi Vision 2030, the gains of developmental reforms and economic momentum, as well as the foundations of foreign policy and its steadfast positions, which have had a tangible impact on strengthening Saudi Arabia’s standing and its active role regionally and internationally. The Cabinet expressed its appreciation for the role of the Shoura Council in supporting the Kingdom’s comprehensive development journey, enhancing integration and coordination with government entities, contributing to the development of the legislative and regulatory framework, and raising the level of performance efficiency.
